Ingredients

  • 1 c chopped onions
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 Tbsp Crisco oil
  • 1 lb extra lean ground beef
  • 2 14 12 oz each cans stewed tomatoes no salt
  • 1 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 2 tsp dried basil leaves crushed
  • 12 tsp sugar
  • 14 tsp black pepper
  • 2 c low-fat cottage cheese
  • 14 c chopped fresh parsley
  • 8 oz wide lasagne noodles
  • 1 c 4 oz shredded low moisture part skim Mozzarella cheese

Directions

  1. Cook and stir onions and garlic in Crisco until tender
  2. Add ground beef and drain if necessary
  3. Add tomatoes and tomato paste basil oregano sugar and pepper
  4. Stir until well blended Simmer 30 minutes
  5. Combine cottage cheese 14 cup Parmesan cheese and parsley set aside
  6. Cook noodles 7 minutes in unsalted boiling water
  7. Drain
  8. Heat oven to 350
  9. Layer all ingredients in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan
  10. Top with sauce and Mozzarella cheese Bake 45 minutes
  11. Makes 12 servings
