Layered Cabbage Casserole
Ingredients
- 1 medium head cabbage
- 14 c butter or margarine
- 15 c all-purpose flour
- 12 tsp salt
- 14 tsp pepper
- 2 c evaporated milk
- 14 c green pepper chopped
- 14 c sweet red pepper chopped
- 15 c onion chopped
- 23 c Cheddar cheese shredded
- 12 c mayonnaise
- 3 Tbsp chili sauce
Directions
- Cut cabbage into small wedges cook in boiling salted water until tender
- Drain
- Place wedges in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish
- Set aside
- Melt butter in a small saucepan stir in flour salt and pepper
- Gradually stir in milk cook over medium heat until thickened stirring constantly
- Pour sauce over cabbage wedges
- Bake at 350 for 20 minutes
