Layered Vegetable Salad
Ingredients
- 1 head lettuce torn into small bite size pieces
- 12 c green or red onions
- 12 c chopped celery
- 1 green pepper
- 10 oz pkg frozen peas thawed and drained
- 1 c mayonnaise or salad dressing
- 2 tsp sugar
- 2 c shredded Cheddar cheese
- 10 slices crumbled bacon or 12 c bacon bits
- 8 oz can water chestnuts sliced
Directions
- In large bowl layer lettuce and onions
- Spoon 12 cup mayonnaise evenly on top
- Layer celery green pepper and peas Spread remaining mayonnaise over top
- Sprinkle sugar cheese and bacon over top
- Cover and refrigerate 8 hours
- Add water chestnuts
- Toss before serving
- Makes 8 to 10 servings
