Lazy Daisy Oatmeal Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 14 c boiling water
  • 1 c Quaker or Mothers oats uncooked
  • 12 c butter or margarine softened
  • 1 c granulated sugar
  • 1 c firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 12 c sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 12 tsp salt
  • 34 tsp cinnamon
  • 14 tsp nutmeg

Directions

  1. Pour boiling water over oats cover and let stand 20 minutes Beat butter until creamy gradually add sugars and beat until fluffy
  2. Blend in vanilla and eggs
  3. Add oats mixture mix well Sift together flour soda salt nutmeg and cinnamon add to creamed mixture
  4. Mix well
  5. Pour batter into well-greased and floured 9-inch square pan
  6. Bake in preheated 350 oven for 50 to 55 minutes
  7. Do not remove from pan
