Libby DantiS Sauce With Sausage
Ingredients
- 1 lb sweet Italian sausage
- 1 lb fresh mushrooms sliced
- 1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
- oregano salt and pepper to taste
- 1 28 oz can tomato puree
- 1 c red dry wine
- 3 onions sliced thin
- 2 c water
Directions
- In a large pot mix tomatoes seasonings wine and water Stir and simmer 10 minutes
- In skillet fry sausage and remove from pan
- Leave a small amount of oil in pan
- Saute onions and mushrooms When cool cut sausage in slices Add to skillet
- Stir and simmer 5 minutes
- Add to large pot Bring to a boil
- Lower heat and let simmer slowly covered 1 hour
- Uncover and continue cooking for 1 to 1 12 hours at low heat
- If sauce is too thick add more water to your taste
- Stir occasionally during cooking
