Manhattan Clam Chowder

Ingredients

  • 5 strips bacon whole
  • 2 12 c onions chopped
  • 1 12 c carrots cubed
  • 1 c celery
  • 2 Tbsp parsley
  • 2 c potatoes diced
  • 4 small cans clams and juice
  • 1 28 oz can tomatoes
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 14 tsp pepper
  • 6 c water
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp sugar

Directions

  1. Cook bacon leave whole Saute onions in drippings Add rest of ingredients and cook until vegetables are tender
  2. Add clams Heat thoroughly Remove bacon and serve
