Marble Cake

Ingredients

  • 14 c cocoa
  • 14 c white sugar
  • 14 c water
  • 14 c red food color
  • 2 12 c Softasilk cake flour
  • 1 12 c sugar
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 5 egg yolks
  • 12 c cooking oil
  • 34 c cold water
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 12 tsp cream of tartar

Directions

  1. Stir cocoa sugar food coloring and boiling water
  2. Stir until smooth set aside and let cool
  3. Sift together flour sugar baking powder egg yolks oil cold water and vanilla into mixing bowl beat until smooth
  4. Spoon or beat for 1 minute
  5. Measure into large bowl egg whites 7 or 8 eggs and cream of tartar
  6. Beat until egg whites are stiff peaks
  7. Pour egg yolk mixture gradually over beaten whites gently folding with rubber scraper just until blended
  8. Place 12 the batter in another pan or bowl and pour cocoa mixture gradually into it will go to the bottom of cake pan if mixture is not cool
  9. Immediately pour alternate layers of dark and light mixtures into ungreased tube pan
  10. Bake at 325 for 55 minutes
  11. Use desirable icing
