MarlaS Banana Nut Cake

Ingredients
- 1 c vegetable shortening
- 2 12 c sugar
- 4 eggs separated
- 6 Tbsp buttermilk
- 3 c all-purpose flour
- 1 12 tsp soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 2 c mashed ripe bananas
- 1 c chopped nuts
Directions
- Cream shortening and sugar
- Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with egg yolks and buttermilk
- Add vanilla mashed bananas and nuts
- Fold in beaten egg whites
- Bake in large greased and floured tube pan at 325 for about 1 12 hours
