MarlaS Banana Nut Cake

Ingredients

• 1 c vegetable shortening
• 2 12 c sugar
• 4 eggs separated
• 6 Tbsp buttermilk
• 3 c all-purpose flour
• 1 12 tsp soda
• 1 tsp salt
• 2 tsp vanilla
• 2 c mashed ripe bananas
• 1 c chopped nuts

Directions

1. Cream shortening and sugar
2. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with egg yolks and buttermilk
3. Add vanilla mashed bananas and nuts
4. Fold in beaten egg whites
5. Bake in large greased and floured tube pan at 325 for about 1 12 hours
