Maureens Slaw

Ingredients

  • 1 medium head of cabbage chopped fine
  • 1 12 to 2 Tbsp salt
  • 34 c sugar 1 c sugar
  • 34 c cider vinegar plus 14 c water
  • 1 tsp celery salt 1 Tbsp celery salt
  • 1 green pepper chopped fine 2 green 1 red pepper
  • 1 large onion chopped fine
  • 2 celery stalks chopped fine 12 stalk celery chopped fine
  • 2 carrots chopped fine 4 carrots
  • 3 large cloves garlic 1 12 heaping Tbsp minced garlic

Directions

  1. Shred the cabbage extra fine in a bowl and sprinkle the salt over it
  2. Cover and refrigerate for a minimum of one hour
  3. Place the sugar cider vinegar celery salt and the pressed garlic in a saucepan
  4. Boil the mixture for a few minutes and set aside to cool
