MayS Bread And Butter Pickles
Ingredients
- 4 qt sliced medium cukes
- 6 medium white onions sliced
- 3 cloves garlic
- 13 c coarse salt
- 5 c sugar
- 3 c vinegar
- 1 12 tsp turmeric
- 1 12 tsp celery seed
- 2 Tbsp mustard seed
Directions
- Do not peel cucumbers slice thin
- Add onions and garlic cloves
- Add salt
- Cover with cracked ice mix thoroughly
- Let stand 3 hours or overnight drain well
- Combine remaining ingredients and pour over cucumber mixture
- Heat just until boiling
- Seal in hot jars
- Makes 8 pints
