Mile High Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 3 c flour
  • 14 c sugar
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 12 tsp cream of tartar
  • 34 tsp salt
  • 12 c shortening
  • 1 egg slightly beaten
  • 1 c plus 2 Tbsp milk

Directions

  1. Combine flour sugar baking powder cream of tartar and salt in bowl
  2. Cut in shortening until crumbly
  3. Stir in egg and milk mixing to form soft dough
  4. Knead lightly on floured surface Roll to 34 inch thickness
  5. Cut with biscuit cutter
  6. Place on baking sheet
  7. Bake at 475 for 12 to 15 minutes or until light brown
  8. Yields 12 biscuits
