Molasses Yeast Rolls
Ingredients
- 1 12 c boiling water
- 1 c rolled oats
- 12 c molasses
- 13 c shortening
- 1 Tbsp salt
- 2 pkg dry yeast
- 12 c warm water
- 2 eggs slightly beaten
- 6 to 6 12 c flour
Directions
- Pour boiling water over rolled oats molasses shortening and salt
- Cool to lukewarm
- Dissolve yeast in warm water
- Add yeast eggs and 3 cups flour to oat mixture
- Beat until smooth
- Stir in enough of the remaining flour to form a soft dough
- Knead until smooth and elastic about 5 minutes
- Place in greased bowl and cover
- Let rise until double in size about 1 hour
- Punch down Shape into rolls and place in shallow pan
- Cover loosely
- Rise until doubled in size 30 to 40 minutes
- Bake in a 350 oven for 20 to 25 minutes
- Brush with melted butter
- Makes 3 dozen rolls Enjoy
