MomS Chicken Dumplings
Ingredients
- 5 c self-rising flour
- 3 or 4 eggs
- 12 or 23 c Crisco oil
- 2 Tbsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
Directions
- Mix eggs oil salt and pepper together
- Add flour and about 34 cup water
- Work dough until you can roll it easily
- Do not have it stiff
- Roll as thin as possible
- Cover with dishcloth and let sit overnight
- Put chicken broth in a large pot
- Let come to hard boil and begin to put in dough cut in small pieces keeping dough covered
- Boil until pastry is done
- If broth gets too low add water so pastry doesnt become dry
- With a big spoon occasionally lift pastry from bottom to top
