My Favorite Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 3 c sugar
  • 2 sticks butter or margarine
  • 12 c shortening or oil
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 c flour
  • 14 tsp salt
  • 12 tsp baking powder
  • 1 c milk
  • 2 tsp lemon extract
  • 1 overflowing tsp vanilla

Directions

  1. Have all ingredients at room temperature
  2. Cream sugar butter and shortening
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time
  4. Add flour salt and baking powder alternately with milk lemon extract and vanilla
  5. Beat well
  6. Pour into greased and floured tube pan Bake at 325 for 1 hour and 15 minutes
  7. Cool for 15 minutes in pan
  8. Turn out on rack to finish cooling
