Nanaimo Bars

Ingredients

  • 2 c graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 c flaked coconut
  • 12 c chopped walnuts
  • 12 c butter or margarine
  • 14 c granulated sugar
  • 3 Tbsp cocoa
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 14 c soft butter or margarine
  • 2 c powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp hot water
  • 23 c semi-sweet chocolate morselschips

Directions

  1. Combine crumbs coconut and nuts reserve
  2. Heat butter and 14 cup granulated sugar until butter is melted
  3. Stir in cocoa mixture should be smooth and sugar dissolved
  4. Blend in egg and vanilla mixing well
  5. Combine mixture with crumb mixture
  6. Turn into a lightly oiled not greased 8 x 8-inch pan
  7. Press firmly to make a smooth surface
  8. Place into freezer while preparing next layer
  9. Blend the 14 cup soft butter the powdered sugar and hot water until mixture is smooth and well combined
  10. Spread over chocolate layer smoothing top
  11. Melt chocolate chips
  12. Spread over top of cookie sometimes it spreads easier if you add a little butter and milk
  13. Cover and chill
  14. Cut into 16 bars 288 calories each
