Nanaimo BarsMakes 16 Bars

Ingredients

  • 2 c graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 c flaked coconut
  • 12 c chopped walnuts
  • 12 c butter or margarine
  • 14 c granulated sugar
  • 3 Tbsp cocoa
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 14 c soft butter or margarine
  • 2 c powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp hot water
  • 23 c semi-sweet chocolate morsels

Directions

  1. Measure crumbs coconut and nuts into a bowl
  2. Blend and reserve
  3. Heat butter and 14 cup granulated sugar in small saucepan until butter is melted
  4. Stir in cocoa
  5. Mixture should be smooth and sugar dissolved
  6. Blend in egg and vanilla mixing well
  7. Combine mixture with crumb mixture
  8. Turn into a lightly oiled 8-inch cake pan
  9. Press firmly to make a smooth surface Place in freezer while preparing next layer
