Ingredients

  • 1 qt low-fat milk
  • 6 eggs
  • 18 tsp salt
  • 12 c sugar
  • 12 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 12 tsp vanilla
  • 1 c heavy cream whipped

Directions

  1. Heat milk in saucepan
  2. Do not boil
  3. Beat eggs in boil
  4. Add salt gradually beat in sugar Beat 1 cup of hot milk in egg mixture
  5. Then add egg mixture to remaining hot milk mixture in saucepan Beat constantly
  6. Cook over low heat stirring constantly until thickens and 160 on candy thermometer
  7. Stir in 12 teaspoon nutmeg and vanilla
  8. Place saucepan in large bowl of ice for 12 minutes
  9. Cover and refrigerate 24 hours
