New England Chuck RoastCrockery Cooking

Ingredients

  • 3 lb beef chuck
  • 14 tsp basil
  • 2 quartered onions
  • 1 stalk celery cut in 8 pieces
  • 2 Tbsp vinegar
  • 1 small cabbage cut in 6 wedges or 1 large turnip cut in quarters
  • 1 Tbsp salt
  • pepper to taste
  • 4 quartered carrots
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 5 c water

Directions

  1. Sprinkle meat with salt pepper and basil
  2. Place vegetables in crock-pot put meat on top
  3. Add bay leaf vinegar and water Cover pot and cook 6 to 8 hours or until tender
  4. Remove meat Turn to high heat and add cabbage or turnip
  5. Cook 20 minutes cook meat at low temperature
