Nut And Raisin Bread
Ingredients
- 2 12 c sifted flour
- 12 tsp salt
- 5 tsp baking powder
- 1 well beaten egg
- 1 c sugar
- 3 Tbsp melted shortening
- 1 c nuts
- 1 c raisins
- 1 Tbsp flour
- 1 c milk
Directions
- Heat skillet until almost smoking
- Turn burner down to low Mix 1 to 1 12 cups corn meal mix milk and egg
- May also add chopped onion andor sour cream
- Add water if needed to make batter thin like cake batter
- Pour into hot skillet and place lid on
- Then turn batter and let cook
- Crack lid to let the steam out so cornbread will not be soggy
- One bag of self-rising corn meal is used
