Nut Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 c pecans
  • 12 c raisins
  • 2 c flour
  • 12 tsp nutmeg cloves and mace
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 c sugar
  • 5 eggs separated
  • 12 c molasses
  • 14 c brandy sherry or whiskey

Directions

  1. Break up nuts mix half of the flour with raisins and nuts Sift other flour with spices and soda
  2. Cream butter and sugar Add beaten yolks molasses and wine
  3. Fold in beaten egg whites then floured raisins and nuts lastly the sifted flour
  4. Pour into greased pan
  5. Bake 2 hours at 300
  6. Cool
  7. Sprinkle with wine whiskey or brandy
  8. Wrap in waxed paper
