Okra Fingers

Ingredients

  • 20 small fresh okra pods
  • 1 c buttermilk
  • 34 c all-purpose flour
  • 14 c cornmeal
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 12 tsp salt
  • dash of pepper
  • corn oil

Directions

  1. Wash okra trim and drain
  2. Place in shallow dish
  3. Pour buttermilk over okra set aside
  4. Combine next 5 ingredients mixing well
  5. Remove okra from buttermilk and carefully roll in cornmeal mixture
  6. Drop into hot oil 375
  7. Fry 3 to 5 minutes turning and browning on all sides
  8. Drain on paper towels
