Old-Fashion Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

• 1 c shortening
• 2 c sugar divided
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp lemon extract
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 2 12 c all-purpose flour
• 2 tsp baking powder
• 14 tsp salt

Directions

1. Cream shortening add 1 12 cups sugar beating until light and fluffy
2. Add eggs and flavorings beat well
3. Combine flour baking powder and salt
4. Add to creamed mixture mix
5. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls 3 inches apart onto greased cookie sheets Press cookies with a fork to flatten
6. Sprinkle cookies with remaining sugar
7. Bake at 375 for 10 minutes or until lightly browned
8. Remove to wire racks to cool
9. Yield 8 dozen
