Old-Fashioned Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
- 34 c butter or margarine
- 1 23 c sugar
- 3 eggs
- 2 c unsifted all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp vanilla flavor
- 23 c cocoa
- 1 14 tsp baking soda
- 14 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 13 c water
Directions
- Combine butter sugar eggs and vanilla in a large bowl
- Beat at high speed for 3 minutes
- Blend dry ingredients in separate bowl
- Add with water to the creamed mixture
- Pour into two greased and floured 9-inch layer pans
- Bake at 350 until cake tester is clean and dry
- Cool for 10 minutes then frost with a buttercream frosting
- Serves 10 to 12
