Old-Fashioned Cocoa Cake

Ingredients

  • 23 c butter or margarine
  • 1 23 c sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 c all-purpose flour
  • 23 c cocoa
  • 1 14 tsp baking soda
  • 14 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 13 c sweet milk
  • 12 c crushed peppermint candy optional

Directions

  1. Cream butter or margarine sugar and eggs until fluffy
  2. Beat on high speed of mixer 3 minutes
  3. Reduce speed to low
  4. Combine flour cocoa baking powder and salt
  5. Add alternately with milk to creamed mixture
  6. Blend in crushed candy
  7. Pour into 2 greased and cocoa dusted 9-inch cake pans
  8. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes Cool 10 minutes
  9. Remove from pans
  10. Frost with frosting of your choice
