Old-Fashioned Shortcake

Ingredients

• 2 c sifted all-purpose flour
• 1 c sugar
• 3 tsp baking powder
• 12 tsp salt
• 12 c butter
• 34 c milk
• 3 1 pt boxes fresh strawberries
• 1 c heavy cream
• 2 Tbsp confectioners sugar

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 450
2. Sift flour 14 cup sugar baking powder and salt into large bowl
3. Cut butter into flour mixture until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal
4. Make well in center of mixture
5. Pour in milk all at once
6. Mix quickly with fork just to moisten flour
7. Turn into greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden
