Old Fashioned Lentil Soup
Ingredients
- 1 ham bone
- 10 c water
- 1 pkg lentils dried or 2 12 c
- 4 medium carrots diced
- 1 large onion diced 1 c
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 14 tsp pepper
- 1 bay leaf
Directions
- Combine all ingredients
- Cover and simmer 1 hour or until lentils are tender 12 hour in pressure cooker
- Take out ham bone
- Strip off bits of meat and return to soup
- Remove bay leaf
- Serve with 2 tablespoons vinegar on top
- Croutons may also be served with soup
- Serves 8
