Old Fashioned Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 12 c sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 c shortening
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 c all-purpose flour

Directions

  1. Cream sugar vanilla and shortening until fluffy
  2. Add eggs alternately with flour
  3. Beat until well blended
  4. Pour into well-greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3 12-inch loaf pan
  5. Bake at 325 for 1 12 hours or until center is done
  6. Cool about 10 minutes on wire rack
  7. Remove from pan and cool completely Lemon flavoring or other flavoring may be substituted
