Old Fashioned Walnut Bread
Ingredients
- 3 c sifted all-purpose flour
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 c sugar
- 1 egg slightly beaten
- 14 c shortening melted
- 1 12 c milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 12 c chopped walnuts
Directions
- Re-sift flour with sugar baking powder and salt
- Add egg shortening milk and vanilla to dry mixture
- Stir just until all of the flour is moistened
- Stir in walnuts
- Turn into greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan or divide batter between two greased No 2 12 cans
- Bake at 350 for about 1 hour and 20 minutes for rectangular loaf or for 1 hour and 10 minutes for round loaf
