Onion Rings
Ingredients
- 2 large onions
- 2 c flour
- 14 c cornmeal
- 12 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp pepper
- 12 tsp garlic salt
- 1 egg
- 2 c milk
- 2 c cooking oil for deep frying
Directions
- Mix flour cornmeal baking soda pepper garlic salt and egg Slowly add milk to make a thick smooth batter
- Try not to make it too runny
- Use less milk if you need to
- Cut onions into rings
- Prepare oil by heating to frying temperature
- Dip onions into batter and put immediately into oil
- If oil is hot the rings will start frying immediately
- Let the rings fry until golden brown
- Remove and place on paper towel to drain
- Serve with catsup or barbecue sauce
- Serves 6 to 8
