Onion Yeast Rolls

Ingredients

  • 2 pkg dry yeast
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 c warm tap water
  • 13 c sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 2 c room temperature whole milk
  • 3 c thawed frozen chopped onion
  • 13 c oil
  • 1 egg
  • 5 c flour

Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast in 1 tablespoon sugar and warm tap water in a large measuring cup
  2. Meanwhile measure dry ingredients
  3. When yeast is dissolved add measured dry ingredients then add 5 cups flour
  4. Beat until smooth
  5. Mix in enough remaining flour 3 cups to make dough easy to handle
  6. Turn dough on floured surface knead until smooth
  7. Place in greased bowl with enough oil to coat dough
  8. Turn greased side up
  9. Cover with plastic wrap let rise until double in size
  10. Punch down and refrigerate
  11. Cover with plastic and foil
