Orange Candy Cake
Ingredients
- 1 c butter
- 5 eggs
- 1 8 oz pkg dates
- 2 c chopped pecans
- 1 4 oz can shredded coconut
- 12 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 34 c buttermilk
- 2 c sugar
- 1 Tbsp vanilla
- 1 lb orange candy slices cut in small pieces
- 4 c plain flour sifted 14 c to dredge fruits and nuts 3 34 c to mix into batter
Directions
- Turn oven to 300
- Beat butter and
- sugar
- until it is fluffy
- Add eggs beating well after
- each
- addition
- Mix in vanilla
- Measure 3 34 cups of sifted
- flour
- andsift
- with baking
- soda
- and
- salt
- Add
- flour
- mixture
- andbuttermilk alternately to cake batter
- Mix chopped dates chopped orange candy chopped nuts and coconut in 14
- cup
- flour
- Mix well Fold this fruit-nut mixture into the
- cake batterGrease and flour a 10-inch tube pan
- Spoon batter into pan and bake in a slow oven 300 for 2 12 hours
