Our Favorite Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 lb 4x confectioners sugar
  • 14 tsp salt
  • 14 tsp mace
  • 34 lb 1 12 c butter or margarine
  • 23 c milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 12 tsp almond extract
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 12 c sifted all-purpose flour

Directions

  1. Blend sugar salt and mace in large mixing bowl Cream the sugar mixture and butter until light and fluffy
  2. Add extracts Beat eggs into mixture one at a time beating well after each addition
  3. Add parts of flour and milk to creamed mixture alternately blending well after each addition
  4. When smooth turn batter into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan
  5. Bake in a moderate oven at 350 for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean and cake is golden brown
  6. Allow cake to cool 5 minutes in pan Turn out on cooling rack
  7. Cool thoroughly
