Our Favorite Pound Cake
Ingredients
- 1 lb 4x confectioners sugar
- 14 tsp salt
- 14 tsp mace
- 34 lb 1 12 c butter or margarine
- 23 c milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 12 tsp almond extract
- 6 eggs
- 3 12 c sifted all-purpose flour
Directions
- Blend sugar salt and mace in large mixing bowl Cream the sugar mixture and butter until light and fluffy
- Add extracts Beat eggs into mixture one at a time beating well after each addition
- Add parts of flour and milk to creamed mixture alternately blending well after each addition
- When smooth turn batter into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan
- Bake in a moderate oven at 350 for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean and cake is golden brown
- Allow cake to cool 5 minutes in pan Turn out on cooling rack
- Cool thoroughly
