Out-Of-This-World Rolls

Ingredients

  • 2 pkg dry yeast
  • 14 c warm water
  • 12 c shortening
  • 12 c sugar
  • 3 eggs well beaten
  • 1 c warm water
  • 4 12 c flour
  • 2 tsp salt

Directions

  1. Soften yeast in 14 cup warm water
  2. In large bowl combine shortening sugar beaten eggs 1 cup warm
  3. water and salt
  4. Stir in softened yeast and 2 12 cups flour
  5. Beat until smooth and blended
  6. Add remaining flour to make a soft dough and mix well Cover and allow to rise
  7. in a warm place until double in bulk This takes about 1 hour
  8. Punch down and place in refrigerator overnight
  9. Divide dough in half and roll each portion into a rectangle 12-inch thick
  10. Spread with softened butter
  11. Roll each rectangle jelly roll style and cut into 1-inch slices
  12. Place cut side down in greased muffin tins
  13. Cover and let rise 2 hours Bake at 400 for 15 minutes
  14. Makes 2 dozen large rolls
