Oven-Baked French Toast

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf 8 oz French bread
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 12 c milk
  • 4 Tbsp sugar divided
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 18 tsp salt
  • ground cinnamon optional
  • powdered sugar
  • 1 lb strawberries stemmed and sliced about 3 c
  • 12 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Directions

  1. Spray 9 x 13 inch baking dish
  2. Cut bread into 1-inch-thick slices arrange closely in single layer in prepared pan
  3. In large bowl beat eggs whisk in milk 3 Tbsp of sugar vanilla and salt pour over bread
  4. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour or over night
  5. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  6. Sprinkle bread with cinnamon if desired
  7. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes or until golden brown Remove from oven sprinkle with powdered sugar
  8. Slice strawberries place in bowl
  9. Add lemon zest juice and remaining 1 Tbsp sugar mix lightly
  10. Serve over warm French toast
