Oyster Casserole

Ingredients

  • 12 lb saltines
  • 12 lb butter
  • 1 lb oysters shelled
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • milk

Directions

  1. Crush saltines to coarse meal
  2. Spread a 12-inch layer of saltines in 1 12-quart casserole dish
  3. Layer oysters and dots of butter with layers of crackers
  4. Add salt and pepper to each layer to your taste
  5. Fill to within 1-inch of top of casserole dish Add milk to just cover cracker layer on top
  6. Finish with a couple dots of butter
  7. Bake in 325 oven for 30 minutes or until top is golden brown and crusty
