Ozark Pumpkin Bread
Ingredients
- 1 23 c sifted flour
- 14 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp soda
- 18 tsp salt
- 12 tsp cinnamon
- 12 tsp nutmeg
- 13 c shortening
- 1 13 c sugar
- 12 tsp vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1 c mashed canned or cooked pumpkin
- 13 c sherry
- 12 c chopped nuts
Directions
- Sift together flour baking powder soda salt cinnamon and nutmeg
- Cream together shortening sugar and vanilla
- Add eggs 1 at a time and beat well after each
- Stir in pumpkin
- Add dry ingredients alternately with sherry and blend well
- Stir in nuts Turn into well-greased 9 x 5-inch loaf pan
- Bake at 350 for 1 hour or until a cake tester inserted in center comes out clean Turn out on a wire rack to cool
- Wrap and refrigerate until ready to slice
- Makes 1 loaf
