Paneton
Ingredients
- 1 c sugar
- 5 14 oz margarine
- 1 jigger pisco or cognac
- 12 c candied fruit
- rind of 1 orange
- 1 Tbsp whole anise
- 4 c or more flour
- 3 eggs
- 12 c seedless raisins
- 1 Tbsp azahar water or 1 tsp orange extract
- 2 oz caked yeast
- 1 c milk
Directions
- Place the yeast in 34 cup warm milk let rest 3 to 4 hours Beat the egg whites with the sugar
- until it forms peaks
- Add the pisco and the orange extract set aside
- Add the yeast into a big bowl
- Add the rest of the warm milk the melted butter the egg yolks the grated rind and the anise
- Slowly add 34 of the flour and the egg white mixture
- Beat until smooth
- Set aside in a warm space until the next day
