PanettoneItalian Holiday Bread

Ingredients

  • 12 c milk
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 12 c butter or margarine
  • 3 c flour
  • 14 c sugar
  • 13 c seedless raisins
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 14 c mixed candied fruit
  • 14 c warm water not hot
  • 1 pkg yeast
  • 14 c roasted almonds
  • 1 Tbsp grated lemon peel

Directions

  1. Scald milk cool to lukewarm
  2. Cream butter with sugar and salt
  3. Measure warm water into a large mixing bowl
  4. Sprinkle yeast in water
  5. Stir in lukewarm milk and cream mixture
  6. Add beaten eggs and about half the flour
  7. Beat until smooth
  8. Blend in fruits almonds and lemon peel
  9. Add enough flour to make soft dough
  10. Knead until smooth and elastic
