PanettoneItalian Holiday Bread
Ingredients
- 12 c milk
- 2 eggs beaten
- 12 c butter or margarine
- 3 c flour
- 14 c sugar
- 13 c seedless raisins
- 1 tsp salt
- 14 c mixed candied fruit
- 14 c warm water not hot
- 1 pkg yeast
- 14 c roasted almonds
- 1 Tbsp grated lemon peel
Directions
- Scald milk cool to lukewarm
- Cream butter with sugar and salt
- Measure warm water into a large mixing bowl
- Sprinkle yeast in water
- Stir in lukewarm milk and cream mixture
- Add beaten eggs and about half the flour
- Beat until smooth
- Blend in fruits almonds and lemon peel
- Add enough flour to make soft dough
- Knead until smooth and elastic
