Park Avenue Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 12 c sifted flour
  • 2 12 tsp baking powder
  • 12 tsp salt
  • 4 egg whites
  • 12 c sugar
  • 12 c lard
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 c milk
  • 1 12 tsp vanilla
  • 1 c chopped black walnuts

Directions

  1. Line a 9 x 13-inch pan with double thickness of wax paper Sift dry ingredients together
  2. Beat egg whites until frothy and add 12 cup sugar making high peaked meringue
  3. Cream lard and add sugar
  4. Beat until fluffy and add milk and dry ingredients alternately
  5. Combine with meringue and put in pan
  6. Bake at 350 for 30 to 35 minutes
