PastichioBaked Macaroni

Ingredients

  • 2 lb ground round
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 small can tomato sauce
  • 1 lb macaroni medium size
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 stick margarine melted
  • 2 c milk
  • 2 c freshly grated cheese Romano or Parmesan

Directions

  1. Brown meat and onions slowly will make its own grease
  2. When meat is browned add garlic powder and tomato sauce blending well
  3. Cook macaroni just until tender
  4. Drain and set aside
  5. Mix eggs margarine and milk together and set aside
  6. Lightly butter 9 x 13-inch pan and put down a layer of macaroni packing well
  7. Add layer of cheese and a layer of meat
  8. Repeat the three layers ending with the rest of the pasta meat and cheese
  9. Pour egg mixture over top and using a knife make wide cuts in the pastichio so the egg mixture will run through pasta
  10. Oh so good Bake at 350 for 1 hour
  11. Let cool for 15 minutes before serving
