Pear And Sour Cherry Crisp

Ingredients

  • 1 12 c flour
  • 1 c sugar divided 13 and 23
  • 34 tsp salt
  • 34 tsp nutmeg
  • 9 Tbsp butter or margarine
  • 2 lb pears about 4 large
  • 16 oz can pitted tart cherries in juice
  • 3 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 14 tsp almond extract

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 375
  2. Combine flour 13 cup sugar salt and nutmeg
  3. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly
  4. Peel and core pears and cut into chunks
  5. Drain cherries
  6. Combine pears and cherries with remaining 23 cup sugar cornstarch and almond extract
  7. Put fruit mixture in a 2-quart baking dish
  8. Sprinkle crumb topping over fruit
  9. Bake until golden about 1 hour
