Pear Pie

Ingredients

  • 6 c peeled and sliced fresh pears
  • 34 c sugar
  • 1 tsp grated lemon rind
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp nutmeg or cinnamon
  • butter or margarine
  • pastry for 2-crust 9-inch pie

Directions

  1. Mix pear slices with sugar rind juice and spice
  2. Arrange in a 9-inch unbaked pie shell
  3. Dot with butter
  4. Cover with top crust
  5. Slit pastry to allow steam to escape
  6. Bake at 375 for 40 to 60 minutes
