Pear Struedel

Ingredients

  • 2 Bartlett pears peeled
  • 14 c sugar
  • 1 14 c raisins
  • 2 Tbsp chopped nuts
  • 12 tsp cinnamon
  • rind of 1 lemon
  • 4 sheets fillo dough
  • 12 c 1 stick butter or margarine melted
  • 14 c dry bread crumbs or matzah meal

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375
  2. Cut pears into bite size pieces
  3. Mix pears with the sugar raisins nuts cinnamon and lemon rind Take one fillo sheet and spread out on a flat floured surface Brush with margarine and 1 tablespoon of bread crumbs
  4. Make a 2-inch surface of 12 the pear mixture leaving a 1-inch border Start from the end and begin to roll ending with bottom seam Repeat with the remaining ingredients
  5. Bake for 35 minutes or until golden
  6. Before serving sprinkle with confectioners sugar
