Pears In White Wine

Ingredients

  • 8 firm ripe pears
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 c dry white wine
  • 1 12 c sugar

Directions

  1. Wash pears
  2. Pare and core from blossom end but leave steam intact
  3. Brush with lemon juice
  4. Combine wine and sugar in large saucepan
  5. Bring to boiling stirring
  6. Bring until sugar dissolves
  7. Lower heat add pears
  8. Cover
  9. Simmer 10 minutes or until tender but still firm
  10. Let pears cool in syrup Refrigerate several hours or overnight
  11. Drain pears
