Pepper Bread
Ingredients
- 2 pkg dry yeast
- 12 c very warm water
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 4 12 to 5 12 c flour
- 1 tsp soda
- 2 eggs
- 16 to 24 oz small curd cottage cheese
- 2 Tbsp butter
Directions
- Dissolve yeast and sugar in water and set aside
- Mix in 2 tablespoons coarse black pepper and 2 tablespoons dried chopped onion
- Beat together eggs cottage cheese and butter and microwave 1 to 2 minutes until warm
- Combine yeast mixture with the cheese mixture
- Add dry ingredients and mix well
- Dough will be stiff Knead to form ball on table
- Cover with a large bowl and let rise until doubled
- Beat down and let rise again
- Form loaves on cornmeal dusted cookie sheets let rise again
- Just before putting bread in oven mix 1 egg with 1 tablespoon water and brush on loaves
- Bake at 350 for 40 to 50 minutes
- Cool on wire rack
