Pfefferneusse

Ingredients
- 1 c sugar
- 1 c dark syrup
- 1 c shortening or butter
- 12 c black coffee
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp aniseed crushed
- 5 c flour
- 2 tsp aniseed flavoring optional
Directions
- Combine all ingredients
- Roll into long thin rolls in wax paper
- Refrigerate overnight
- Slice into 14 to 12-inch slices Bake at 325 for 10 to 15 minutes until lightly browned
- Cool and store in airtight container
- Will keep indefinitely
- Yield about 800 peppernuts
- A must for Christmas
