Picnic CakeVery Rich

Ingredients

• 1 14 c chopped dates
• 1 c water
• 34 c oleo
• 1 c sugar
• 6 oz chocolate chips
• 12 c chopped nuts
• 2 eggs
• 2 c flour
• 1 tsp soda
• 12 tsp salt
• 1 tsp vanilla

Directions

1. Mix dates in hot water
2. Set aside
3. Cream oleo and sugar Add eggs beat until fluffy
4. Sift flour salt and soda
5. Add alternately with date mixture to egg mixture
6. Mix well each time Stir in vanilla and 12 cup chocolate chips
7. Spread in greased 9 x 13-inch pan
8. Top with remaining chips and nuts
9. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes
