Ingredients

  • 1 34 c cake flour
  • 12 tsp baking powder
  • 12 tsp salt
  • 12 c shortening
  • 1 14 c sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 14 c milk
  • 12 tsp vanilla
  • 12 tsp almond flavoring
  • Few drops red food coloring

Directions

  1. Sift flour and measure add baking powder and salt and sift again set aside Cream shortening and sugar together until light Add unbeaten eggs one at a time beating thoroughly after each addition Add flour mixture with milk stir in vanilla and almond flavoring To half of the batter add red food coloring to make a delicate pink Spoon batter into greased 9 x 3 x 5-inch loaf pan alternating the plain and pink batters Bake at 325 for one hour Cool on rack 10 minutes remove from pan
