Plain Roll Dough

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg dry yeast
  • 14 c warm water
  • 3 12 c sifted flour
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 Tbsp shortening
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 c scalded milk

Directions

  1. Soften yeast in water
  2. Set aside
  3. Combine scalded milk sugar salt and shortening
  4. Cool to lukewarm
  5. Add 1 cup flour and beat well
  6. Mix in yeast and egg
  7. Add remaining flour and mix well
  8. Cover and let rise for 1 to 1 12 hours or until it doubles
  9. Make into rolls bread or cinnamon rolls
  10. Let rise about 20 minutes
  11. Bake at 350 until golden brown
  12. Brush with butter
