Plantation Pecan Pie
Ingredients
- 14 c butter not margarine
- 1 c firmly packed dark brown sugar
- 1 c light corn syrup
- 1 Tbsp evaporated milk or cream
- 14 tsp salt
- 3 large eggs at room temperature
- 2 Tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 12 c broken pecan pieces
- 1 9-inch pie shell unbaked
Directions
- Cream butter and gradually add sugar
- Add syrup and evaporated milk
- In a separate bowl add salt to eggs and beat until light
- Stir well into first mixture
- Add vanilla and pecans
- Use 1 cup nuts for halves 1 12 cups if using broken pieces
- Pour into pie shell Bake in preheated oven at 400 for 10 minutes
- Lower heat to 350 and bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean
