Plantation Pecan Pie

Ingredients

  • 14 c butter not margarine
  • 1 c firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 c light corn syrup
  • 1 Tbsp evaporated milk or cream
  • 14 tsp salt
  • 3 large eggs at room temperature
  • 2 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 12 c broken pecan pieces
  • 1 9-inch pie shell unbaked

Directions

  1. Cream butter and gradually add sugar
  2. Add syrup and evaporated milk
  3. In a separate bowl add salt to eggs and beat until light
  4. Stir well into first mixture
  5. Add vanilla and pecans
  6. Use 1 cup nuts for halves 1 12 cups if using broken pieces
  7. Pour into pie shell Bake in preheated oven at 400 for 10 minutes
  8. Lower heat to 350 and bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean
